AC/DC’s producer and songwriter George Young, 70, has tragically passed. Many musicians and fans mourn his loss today. Young played a huge part in music history, starting out in a band called Easybeats in the 1960s and then later moving on to produce some of the greatest hits that have ever been made.

Angus and Malcolm's band AC/DC said that they would not have been able to accomplish all that they did without the help of George Young. He provided much inspiration to young musicians and old musicians alike. He provided them with guidance they needed to get off to a good start which ultimately set them up for success in the music business as one of the top rock bands of all- time.

He also played beside a number of great musicians such as the Guns n' Roses lead singer Axl Rose in 2016.

A piece of history

Growing up in Glasgow, Scotland, he came from a lower-class family that emigrated to Australia in the early 1960s. Young started his career in Sydney and first achieved success in the 1960s as the guitarist of the Easybeats. The Easybeats were extremely popular in Australia and gained world-wide attention with their skyrocket into the big time.

George Young collaborated with numerous artists, including AC/DC, also writing John Paul Young’s “Love is in the Air” with Harry Vanda. AC/DC was formed by his younger brothers Malcolm and Angus, and both Vanda and Young were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1988, and the Easybeats were inducted in 2005.

There is no doubt that George Young was a talented musician and songwriter. Many people are grieving on social media, including famous music record labels and magazines, as well as fans on Twitter and Facebook.

Young’s brothers have received lots of support as this is, of course, one of the most trying times that they will ever go through.

There is an outpouring of love and kindness as fans band together to remember this talented man who brought us some of the best music that was ever written and produced.
