NCIS rumors are all over the place after Pauley Perrette confirmed that she is leaving the show during Season 15. It has a lot of fans wondering about “NCIS Season 16 and if it is actually going to take place now. This news has been in conjunction with rumors that Mark Harmon would also be leaving the show this year. Those “NCIS” rumors were addressed as well, with Harmon stating that he is not leaving the show, even though his character might shift in focus.

Perrette confirmed the “NCIS spoilers on her Twitter account, putting to rest a number of rumors about why she might be leaving the program.

She stated that “It was a decision made last year. I hope everyone will love and enjoy everything Abby not only for the rest of this season but for everything she has given all of us for 16 years [sic].” It’s not the news that many fans wanted to hear from Perrette and it set off a new wave of “NCIS” rumors on social media.

Is Season 16 going to happen?

A report by the site TV Series Finale states that “NCIS” has not been canceled or renewed for a 16th season. CBS has not revealed an official decision on what will take place with the program, raising the possibility that even the network doesn’t know yet. This is familiar territory for holdover shows, though, so it isn’t surprising that an official announcement hasn’t been made yet.

It’s worth noting that the “NCIS” Season 15 ratings took a hit.

Season 15 is averaging an estimated 13.4 million viewers per episode, with an average 1.5 rating in the 18-49 key demographic. The rating number is down 13 percent from the previous season and the estimated viewership is down eight percent. The NCIS cast still has a lot of recognizable names, including Mark Harmon, Sean Murray, Emily Wickersham, Pauley Perrette, Wilmer Valderrama, Maria Bello, Brian Dietzen, Duane Henry, Rocky Carroll, and David McCallum.

This is despite losing names like Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo in the past.

When will CBS reveal Season 16 information?

CBS has no reason to release much information about upcoming seasons for the show, yet, giving an avenue for a lot of the NCIS rumors on social media. It could be the case that CBS doesn’t announce anything about the future of the show until early spring, possibly not even before the May announcements.

That’s about the time that the official cancellations and renewals are made at each network. A Season 16 renewal could rely heavily upon how the NCIS ratings look for the rest of the year.

For now, fans of the show should just sit back and enjoy the final few episodes that will star Pauley Perrette. The writers will likely give her a nice sendoff, hopefully with a more peaceful tone than how Michael Weatherly’s character ended up leaving. It won’t stop the NCIS cancellation rumors, but that’s something that every show has to deal with.
