Kim Cattrall rose to fame as the sexy Samantha Jones on the popular HBO show sex and the City. But did the show derail Kim’s plans for motherhood? In a recent interview on "Piers Morgan’s Life Stories," the star revealed that she and her husband had plans to start a family. But the actress’s age along with the grueling filming schedule made her decided motherhood wasn’t meant to be.

Cattrall's rise to fame

Before being cast on "Sex and the City," Kim Cattrall had already made a name for herself in Tinseltown. In the 1980s, she starred in classic movies such as "Police Academy," "Mannequin," and "Big Trouble in Little China." By the early 1990s, Cattrall’s career had cooled off for a bit.

But by 1998 when "Sex and the City" hit the small screen, the actress’s career became red hot.

As publicist Samantha Jones, Cattrall became a fan favorite with her gorgeous looks and her amazing acting. Audiences tuned in every week to see what was happening in Samantha’s crazy sex life. Her stories had fans laughing as she dated a string of unique suitors. Yet, Cattrall also showed Samantha’s versatility as the character battled breast cancer during the show’s last season.

Kim was such a hit on the show that she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also received five Emmy nominations throughout the course of the show. Following the end of "Sex and the City," Cattrall went on to star in a number of films.

However, she would later reprise her role as Samantha for both "Sex and the City" movies.

Life after Sex and the City

It’s been seven years since Kim played Samantha Jones, yet the actress and the character continue to remain popular with the diehard fans. In recent weeks, Cattrall has been in the news thanks to "Sex and the City." After it was announced that plans for a third movie were shelved, rumors surfaced that it was due to Cattrall’s diva antics.

The actress quickly shut down the reports and claimed that she had no desire to do the third movie.

Yet, that wasn’t the end of Cattrall’s revelations about the show and her co-stars. Following the announcement about the third movie, Kim admitted that she wasn’t that close with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristen Davis.

This along with Kim’s comments about choosing the show over motherhood shocked longtime fans.

Despite the negativity that may be going on at the moment, Kim Cattrall has no ill will towards the show that made her a star. Whether a third movie is made or not, the actress is still keeping busy with other projects. No matter what other roles the actress plays, fans will always remember her as the divine Samantha Jones.
