Actor Greg Rikaart's fans will be delighted to know that there is going to be even more of him to see. He has joined the cast of "General Hospital" (GH) and promises to stir things up soon in Port Charles. He is already well known for his role as Kevin Fisher on "The Young and the Restless" (Y&R). Although Rikaart was originally brought on as a temporary bit player on Y&R, he quickly stole the hearts of daytime viewers and his role was expanded.

Kevin wanders into town

Kevin appeared on the scene as the ne'er-do-well younger brother of attorney Michael Baldwin.

Baldwin had survived a troubled youth himself, but had slowly worked his way into genoa city’s good graces; so much so that he became the go-to lawyer for both the Newmans and the Abbotts. Everything was looking up for Baldwin until Fisher showed up with his rumpled clothes and arrest record, shaming the family name.

As it often happens in the world of soap operas, Fisher cleaned himself up to the point of becoming a personal and valued friend of police chief Paul Williams. And before you know it, Fisher was one of Genoa City’s finest police officers. Even though Kevin is now on the straight and narrow path, his talents were not forgotten. Everyone from the police chief to the mighty Victor Newman still calls upon Fisher to use his hacking skills from his previous life to find out potentially damaging information on their enemies.

Kevin and Chloe will survive

The biggest question is what will Fisher’s departure mean for his relationship with Chloe Mitchell? These two have had one of the most tumultuous relationships in the show’s history. Their love has survived lies, infidelity, outside children, and even Mitchell faking her own death. The newest change in their saga finds them having moved away and laying low because no one knows Mitchell is still alive except Victor Newman, Fisher, and Bella (Fisher and Mitchell’s little girl).

The latest episodes have Fisher assuring Victor that things couldn’t be better between him and Mitchell. So, it seems as though their incognito relationship will continue to thrive.

The good news for fans is that while GH watchers can expect new and exciting storylines with Rikaart coming aboard, Y&R loyalists will not be left adrift.

The writers made a brilliant move in having him now live out of town to conveniently explain any long absences. However, since Rikaart has agreed to appear in both shows, the favorite hacker of Genoa City residents will continue to be just one keystroke away.
