The latest updates and spoilers for "X-Men: dark phoenix" will feature new storyline for Beast and jessica chastain shots down the rumored role of Lilandra in the film.

Nicholas Hoult will be reprising his role as Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast in "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" and teased a new storyline for his character during the events of the sequel.

"It's a very different Beast this time, that was part of the appeal of doing the movie for me, " Hoult told Entertainment Tonight Canada. "Simon Kinberg who wrote and directed this time had great ideas for where he wanted the character to go, so I was excited."

A new chapter for Beast

Hoult did not elaborate any further details about the sequel, but comic book fans are excited to see what kind role Kinberg had in mind for Beast in the story.

Hoult's version of Beast has been a prominent member of the X-Men in the prequel films but was often overshadowed by major characters like Professor Charles Xavier, Mystique, Magneto, and even Wolverine.

Beast in the past films, was often seen hating his mutation and has kept himself busy in order to slowly accept his condition. Kinberg felt that Beast needed a major makeover in terms of character development and "Dark Phoenix" will likely provide those changes for him.

Jessica Chastain, not playing as Lilandra?

"The Zookeeper'S Wife" star Jessica Chastain will join the cast of "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" as the film's main villain and fans have speculated that she will play the role of Shi'Ar Empress Lilandra.

However, Chastain confirmed that she will not play Lilandra in the sequel after she made a comment on her Instagram photo of her first day on the set. The latter quickly deleted the comment, but fans who saw it are wondering if that was done by accident, or she was just merely trolling them on social media.

With Lilandra out of the picture, who is the main villain of the sequel?

There has been a speculation about Chastain's role in the movie during the casting of a young Jean Grey. The theory hints that she will play an older version of Jean who has been consumed by the Phoenix Force.

The sequel will focus on Jean Grey's struggle to control her powers as the X-Men tries to prevent the Phoenix Force from overwhelming her.

The movie also teased Magneto's new mutant group, the Acolytes after an anonymous source told Nerdist that the latter will be viewed as a cult-like leader.

The unnamed source also revealed that Michael Fassbender specifically told the production that his Magneto costume should have features of a cult leader and he will have two bases in the film.

"X-Men: Dark Phoenix" will premiere on Nov. 2, 2018.
