Milo Ventimiglia, who is currently best known for his role in the NBC drama “This Is Us” was interviewed by MR PORTER and he talked about his highly-publicized relationship with Hayden Panettiere in the past. The two dated for two years before calling it quits and Ventimiglia said that he learned a lot from that past relationship.
The 40-year-old actor and the “Nashville” actress were together until 2009. They first met each other when they used to star in the NBC show “Heroes.” It turns out that Milo was much older than his co-star ex-girlfriend.
Ventimiglia was 29-years old that time while Panettiere was only 18, according to E! News.
What Ventimiglia learned from that relationship
Ventimiglia told MR PORTER that he will never do it again if given the chance. He said that there are things that happen in one’s life that shapes who you are. He pointed out that he has been through a lot in terms of friendships, jobs, and partnerships and they all built who he is now. He revealed that he learned from everything that happened to him in the past and he learned how to do things a better way.
Although he would never be in a relationship again with a woman much younger than he is, Ventimiglia said he would not change a thing. He said that the things that happened to him in the past knocked him over and it built his perspective in life now.
As for Panettiere, the 28-year-old is in a relationship with 41-year-old with Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko. The two welcomed their daughter Kaya three years ago.
Ventimiglia talks success of 'This Is Us'
Ventimiglia also talked about why he thinks that “This Is Us” is successful and popular. He said that it might be because of the fact that the show is similar to the lives of other people “where heart and family is front and center.”
He pointed out that his only hope now is that people watching the show will look at their lives and make a positive change by connecting with a family member or a loved one.
He said some people came up to him telling him that “This Is Us” has made them cry and also made them realize that they have to have a better approach to their own lives, Refinery 29 shared.
In a September 13 report from Refinery 29, the publication reported that Ventimiglia almost did not get cast as part of “This Is Us” because he was too handsome. The show’s creator, Dan Fogelman, reportedly wanted someone who was less attractive to fit with the show’s plot and wanted someone who was more of a reflection of himself.
