According to sources connected with The Hollywood Reporter, K.J. Apa, the Archie from the CW show "Riverdale," was involved in a late-night car crash last week after working 16-hour work day outside Vancouver, Canada.

The Australian actor slept while driving the 45-minute trip home right after midnight. He didn't suffer any serious injuries and was only taken to the local hospital for observation.

With a routine that requires late-night shoots until the early morning hours, the cast and crew are now asking the Warner Bros., and Greg Berlanti production to provide transportation to and from the set.

Although WBTV did not confirm anything to THR, a source told them that a call between representatives for the actors and the executives of the studio today to discuss the issue.

K.J. Apa's car crash was the beginning of an investigation by SAG-AFTRA organization that represent those in TV. Yesterday, the union announced that this extremely troubling situation concerned them about the safety of performers on the "Riverdale" set.

"We are sending a team to Vancouver to review the circumstances surrounding safety issues affecting performers on this production," read the statement released.

The policy followed by WBTV is that actors are responsible for their own transportation to and from the set, especially if the production is shooting outside the U.S.

This is just another safety-related incidents happening in Hollywood productions.

Two deaths of Stunt professionals (one in "Deadpool 2" and another on "The Walking Dead") were the beginning of clamoring for improvements to their working conditions.
