With the official "Dancing With The Stars" 2017 lineup reveal less than 24 hours away, another piece of the puzzle fell into place Sept. 5 as former NFL star Terrell Owens formally joined the season 25 cast. The 43-year-old wide receiver will team up with popular pro Cheryl Burke, who returns to "DWTS" after a single-season absence. Owens was reportedly a late addition to the cast after Bobby Brown chose to withdraw, according to Us Weekly.

Terrell Owens, Cheryl Burke talk 'DWTS' season 25

Burke, 33, noted during the "Good Morning America" reveal that Owens is "all about lights, camera, action" — as his numerous antics on the football field prove — and hoped to use his performance skills to their advantage during "Dancing with the Stars." Owens said he planned to "let [Burke] take the lead" and follow her guidance as he navigates the ballroom.

Terrell Owens is far from the first NFL star to go for the Mirrorball Trophy; just last season, Rashad Jennings took the title with Emma Slater. Other football alumni who have fared well during past seasons of the hit reality TV show include Donald Driver, Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice, Hines Ward, Warren Sapp, Jason Taylor, Jacoby Jones, and Calvin Johnson, Jr..

"Dancing with the Stars" and football fans alike expressed enthusiasm over the new partnership via Twitter. User @reg1_e summed up the thoughts of many by tweeting "@terrellowens can play football & in such great condition has #allthemoves I don't watch #DWTS but I just might for him."
