Sylvester Stallone is headed to television. Dan Fogleman announced at the TCA summer press tour that Sly will appear in the second season of his popular television series "This Is Us." Stallone will have a guest starring role in the series that also stars Milo Ventimiglia, the second time the actors have worked on a project together. Ventimiglia also starred as Robert "Rocky Jr." Balboa in the sixth Rocky movie "Rocky Balboa."

'This Is Us'

According to Variety, Sylvester Stallone will only appear in one episode but that it is a very "big part" in the popular action star.

The most interesting thing about this role is that Stallone will be portraying himself in the series.

"This is Us" is a drama that follows three people and their family lives and connections throughout the years. The three main characters are twins Kate and Kevin, who were born while their triplicate brother died during child birth. A third character is Randall, a child born the same day whose father abandoned him at a fire station that Kate and Kevin's parents adopt.

Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore play Jack and Rebecca, the parents of the children. The series bounces between time frames, going from the 1940s all the way to the present day. Because of spoilers that won't be mentioned here, there is a chance that Sylvester Stallone and Milo Ventimiglia might not share a scene.

Stallone's role on 'This Is Us'

Sylvester Stallone will guest star as himself in "This Is Us" as he has a role in a period war movie that son Kevin (Justin Hartley) is also appearing in. This could possibly be the movie that was hinted at in the present day scenes as Ron Howard guest starred as an attendee at Kevin's stage play and offered him a role in a big screen film.

According to Dan Fogelman, Sylvester Stallone will play a mentor character in the film that Kevin is starring in. Fogleman said that Stallone will bring up some things for Kevin about Jack (Milo Ventimiglia's character) and his relationship with his dad.

Fogleman said that Sylvester Stallone will have a very important role in the "This Is Us" TV series because he will have a "beautiful monologue" that will hit home for Kevin and really delve into the relationship between him and his father.

When Stallone learns what happened between Jack and Kevin in their lives, Sly will open up about his own life experiences, losses, and aging.

There is no telling how much "This is Us" will deal with Sylvester Stallone's real life and heartbreak but this could prove to be a touching moment because he lost his son in 2012 at the age of 36 from heart disease.
