Mobb Deep star, Prodigy, was choked to death by an egg. It is one of the most bizarre accident witnessed in hip hop industry in a couple of years. At the time of his death, he was in a Las Vegas hospital for a reason not related to egg choking. He died at 42. Prodigy, also known as Albert Johnson, had been performing under a scorching sun in Vegas. Due to his Sickle Cell Anemia condition which affects the immune system, his health had deteriorated, and his bodyguards rushed him to the hospital on Saturday 17.

Prodigy Had Sickle Cell Anemia

Due to the desert heat, that affected the venue he was performing at, Prodigy had to leave his fans and head back to his hotel to rest and rehydrate.

However, his condition had worsened, and he had to be taken to the hospital.

Based on TMZ reports, the star was still being hospitalized when he met his untimely death on June 20th. The report by Clark County Medical Examiner now confirms that the cause of Prodigy’s death was accidentally choking on an egg.

Nas Had Broken The News

News of his death was broken by his friend and fellow rapper Nas on Instagram. Nasir Jones aka Nas, shared Prodigy’s picture reading a book and wrote: “QB RIP King P. Prodigy 4 Ever.”

The unexpected news left his fans who felt shocked and devastated.

Mobb Deep consisted of Kejuan Muchita, known as Havoc, and Prodigy. He is being remembered for his great live performances and achievements.

Prodigy was born and raised in a musical family. His grandfather and uncle were members of Bebop era of jazz. His mother was a singer and a member of Crystals, a 1960s girl group.

Mobb Deep made it to the charts in 1995 with their first album The Infamous which sold over half a million copies in two months. In 2009, the group broke out with 50 Cent’s G-Unit label.

Prodigy recently served a three-year prison term for gun possession and was released in March 2011.

The group had split on 2012 after a dispute on Twitter and reunited the next year. Their most recent album and the last, The Infamous Mobb Deep was released in 2014.

The group continued to perform shows, and the last show was in Las Vegas before the demise of Prodigy.

He was married to Kiki Johnson and had two children T’Shaka and Fahtasia. Just like any other married couple they had their marital issues. Prodigy had stated in his autobiography that Kiki had committed adultery. Prodigy regretted not making a move on Mary J Blige when she wooed him. Kiki also accused him of cheating on her with Lil Kim.
