Miley Cyrus was not able to attend the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday and offered an explanation via her Instagram account. She also took the time to plug her upcoming single titled “Younger Now.”

Cyrus received the Teen Choice Award’s top honor called Ultimate Choice Award. She was not able to make it to Galen center in Los Angeles to receive her award personally. She has won 18 Teen Choice Awards throughout her career.

Cyrus’ releases statement on Instagram

The presenter for the Ultimate Choice Award was actress Victoria Justice. Justice said the last-minute cancellation of Cyrus was a “bummer,” Los Angeles Times reported.

Later, Cyrus took to her Instagram to release a lengthy statement about her no-show at the event. The statement was posted alongside a photo of her younger self, which is in reference to her new single “Younger Now.”

Cyrus first thanked her fans and all those who watched the Teen Choice Awards and for the most recent award added under her name. She noted that she was beyond bummed she could not make it to the show and explained that she had had every intention to be there physically but her “unrealistic schedule” hindered her from attending. The “Malibu” singer then revealed that what has been keeping her busy as of late is her new single, which she tried to keep as a secret.

The new single will be out this Friday along with the music video.

Cyrus ended her statement by saying she hopes to always make people smile and shine light through her work. She also said she looks forward to making music for the rest of her life, Direct Lyrics shared.

Other reports on Cyrus

The “Voice” judge recently sparked rumors claiming that she just married her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth.

The Sun reported that she and Hemsworth got married last July 4 in the United States. The marriage rumors began to surface after she was spotted wearing a huge sparkler on her ring finger. On the day she was photographed wearing the ring, Cyrus was on her way to shoot some scenes for the 13th season of “The Voice.”

The 27-year-old did not address the marriage rumors yet but took to Twitter to say that she enlisted her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, as her team adviser for the reality show.

This is not the first time that Cyrus has been rumored to be married to Hemsworth since their reunion in January 2016. Many claimed they already got married while in Australia because Cyrus moved into her fiancé’s Malibu home weeks after.
