ABCs hit medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 has booked another actress that is guaranteed to bring a new and steamy story arc on the show. According to EW, Italian actress, Stefania Spampinato will play the role of Carina DeLuca, Andre DeLuca's (Giacomo Giannotti) sister whom he feels uncomfortable working with. Unfortunately for the heartthrob doctor, Carina is staying as a resident doctor at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
Apparently, the show is gearing up to give Andrew DeLuca's story some content. In his interview with EW, Giannotti said: "This year, we’re going to definitely have DeLuca’s character a little more fleshed out with the arrival of his sister from Italy.
We’re going to see a new dynamic in the hospital as his sister arrives, and it’s not exactly good news; he’s frustrated by it.” Interestingly, the sibling's story will also expand the show's use of another language as they are expected to speak subtly in Italian.
Carina DeLuca will work at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital despite her brother being uncomfortable with her presence. She is also expected to bridge the story gaps on Andrew DeLuca's life. The report also revealed that as opposed to Andrew's feelings on her presence, the rest of the doctors would seem to like her.
Grey's Anatomy and its history of foreign language
In "Grey's Anatomy" Season 13, Dr. Eliza Minnick (Marika Dominzyck) spoke Polish when she invited Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) for a date.
That said, the insertion of different languages has brought new meaning on diversity where the medical drama is concerned. Meanwhile, here's an interesting guess that may shed some light on Carina DeLuca's arrival at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
According to TVLine, Marika Dominczyck will not return to reprise her role as Dr.
Eliza Minnick next season. Eliza plays the role of a consultant in Grey Sloan and Arizona Robbins' love interest. Last season's final episode featured Minnick being fired by Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson). The news came as a shock to Arizona who made interesting plans with Eliza after a long day at the hospital.
Arizona Robbins' new love interest?
Since Eliza Minnick is gone, could be that Carina DeLuca will be Arizona's next love interest? The latter's personality is known to be a womanizer, and it won't be surprising to see them together in the next season. Arizona Robbins has been married to Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) until the two divorced in Season 12. Following the divorce, she found a new love interest in Minnick, but now, it looks like things are turning around.
Marika Dominczyck and Sara Ramirez are just a few of the "Grey's Anatomy" characters who were not killed in the story; giving hope that someday, they will be able to return for a cameo role on the show.
