Several Hollywood celebrities have pledged monetary donations for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Among these celebrities are Leonardo DiCaprio, Sandra Bullock, Beyonce and the Kardashian family.
Metro News reported that DiCaprio has pledged $1 million worth of donations to the relief efforts after the hurricane hit some cities in the United States. The money will be used to help thousands of evacuees in Louisiana and Texas.
The actor donated the amount to the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund, a new fundraising program that was recently launched for the recovery efforts in the affected areas.
United Way president and CEO Brian Gallagher told Metro News that they are thankful for the donation from DiCaprio.
Gallagher added that responding to the victims of Hurricane Harvey requires the best efforts, and the program will provide all the help needed for the improvement of lives along the Gulf Coast. The actor added his pledges through his own group, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. His foundation is committed to protecting the well-being and health of Earth’s inhabitants, as well as promoting climate change advocacies.
Sandra Bullock’s $1 million donation
The “Titanic” actor joined other Hollywood celebrities who also pledged to help the victims of the recent tragedy. Just like him, actress Sandra Bullock has donated a total of $1 million to help the people affected by the massive flooding in Texas, CNN reported.
Bullock made her donation via the Red Cross last August 28, since the organization is close to her heart. She was a former resident of Austin, Texas where she still owns a home, the report added.
Furthermore, female celebrity and socialite Kim Kardashian West tweeted on Tuesday that she and her family will also pledge donations to the Red Cross for the rehabilitation efforts.
Kardashian West wrote that she will be donating $500,000, with her mother and sisters.
Over the weekend, Houston was among the hardest-hit areas by Hurricane Harvey after making landfall in the United States. The storm claimed several lives and damaged homes around the area.

Beyonce’s hometown
Houston is the hometown of international pop singer Beyonce.
The female singer has also pledged her contribution to the relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
She recently told the Houston Chronicle that she will remain in constant prayer for the victims and for the rescuers who have been determined to work together to rebuild their lives. She added that she is now working together with her team at BeyGOOD to execute a program to help as much as they can.
Rumors are that Beyonce is donating a total of $7 million for the victims of the tragedy, according to Mercury News. Other celebrities who have pledged contributions are Chris Brown, Kevin Hart, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
