In spite of being a season of reunions, fissures have begun to surface between Arya and her elder sister Sansa. The last episode saw the former threatening the latter after she found out about the letter that Sansa had written to Robb. This tension could take a dark turn as Director Alan Taylor has also hinted at something violent coming between the siblings.

Sansa and Arya have grown lethal in all these years

Director Alan Taylor who directed the sixth episode of the current season and also returned to the “Game of Thrones” series after a gap of five seasons has said that it was awesome for him to see Maisie Williams aka Arya and Sophie Turner aka Sansa coming together.

He said that it was a delight to see the matured dynamics between them. He liked the fact that the two have turned lethal in their own way after going through personal struggles, which is going to tear them apart. He said that in the sixth episode he wanted to give the impression that either of them might die and also confirmed some violent surprises coming between them, especially after Sansa sent away Brienne.

Sophie Turner says sisters lack communication

Meanwhile, actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa, has said that Arya and Sansa never really had the kind of communication sisters have but now it is important for them to talk. Sadly, it is lacking and therefore, they cannot understand each other and it has led to huge tension simmering beneath their reunion.

For Arya, Sansa is still the same snobby and fussy girl that she was in Season 1 and the inability to understand each other has become acute because both have gone through totally different experiences through the seasons of the show. They have not opened their hearts to each other about their journeys and though the two love each other, they are quite different from each other.

Littlefinger driving wedge between sisters

While Sansa and Arya may have turned against each other, it is not entirely out of mutual distrust. Littlefinger has played a big part in sowing the seeds of suspicion between the two. He has succeeded a good deal in making Sansa believe that he is only one she can trust but it is not that he has gotten everything right.

Actor Aidan Gillen, who plays Littlefinger, has said that there are mixed things going on with his character and that of Sansa. He said that Littlefinger is enjoying Sansa growing in stature at Winterfell but his plans are not risk-proof. They can backfire and he knows it but he also likes it. He is a good gambler who plans his moves carefully and is not afraid to put himself at risk.
