After hitting it big after becoming one of HBO's "Game of Thrones" lead roles, Sophie Turner admits to getting an acting job because she had millions of social media followers.

Turner has indeed gathered a great following on different social media platforms. Currently, she has 1.35 million followers on Twitter, another 2 million on Facebook and a whopping 5.4 million followers on Instagram. According to the actress on her recent interview with Porter magazine, this was what led her to land an acting role over a superior actress.

Sophie Turner said a lot of what she has achieved by far has something to do with timing and luck.

However, as much as the actress hates to say, her social media following also have a huge impact.

The "Game of Thrones" actress adds, "I auditioned for a project and it was between me and another girl who is a far better actress than I am, far better, but I had the followers, so I got the job." The actress continued and said that she knows it isn't right but that it has become a big part of the movie industry nowadays.

Sansa Stark on Social Media

In addition to getting the role, Sophie Turner also revealed that she was also encouraged by her team to tone down her actions on social media.

Turner got the role of Sansa Stark on highly popular fantasy series "Game of Thrones" when she was just 14. This led her followings online rise to new heights.

But being a teenager, she was still not accustomed to her popularity.

The actress said that she treated her life as well as her actions on social media as if she weren't subject to the public eye. She remembers being a 15-year-old who was writing "rash political stuff" and that she would gain some negative reaction from people online.

That was the reason her team was encouraging her to tone down her presence online. Now, the actress admits to learning to keep her "mouth shut."

Which Role?

It is unknown which role the "GoT" actress was talking about in her interview. However, Sophie Turner is getting more exposure. Besides being a series regular in the HBO series together with Kit Harington, Emiliar Clarke and Maisie Williams, she's also bound to star in different films.

Apart from being known as one of the Starks, Turner got even more recognition when she starred alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender for "X-Men: Apocalypse." She was given the role of young Jean Grey. The franchise will continue with another "X-Men" flick with the actress reprising her role.

In addition, Turner has three other unreleased movies namely "Berlin, I Love You," "Hunstville" and "Time Freak."
