You may have noticed a familiar face in "Game of Thrones" season 7 episode 3, "The Queen's Justice." We're talking about Cersei's maid, Bernadette, who knocked on Cersei's door the morning after the night the queen spent with her brother Jaime.

A quick recap

After the terrible scene in which Cersei gives the kiss of death to Tyene Sands in front of her mother Ellaria, the queen goes into Jaime's room and starts to make out with him. After the passionate scene between them, we see Jaime and Cersei in bed, the morning after. Clearly, Jaime is still in love with her cruel sister.

Someone knocks at the door and Cersei gets up to see what's going on. "What are you doing?" Jaime asks. "No one can see us like this." But Cersei doesn't care. "I'm the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. I'll do as I please" she answers.

Behind the door, we see Bernadette, who informs Cersei that the Iron Bank's emissary has arrived. Apparently, Bernadette has become Cersei's personal maid, and the queen trusts her.

Who is Bernadette?

Oh, you know who she is. You just need a reminder, especially after the changes in her look. The first time we saw her was in 'GOT' season 2. She was assigned to assist (and keep an eye on) Sansa Stark. When Sansa has her first period, Bernadette immediately runs off to tell Cersei Lannister, so Shae is somewhat forced to point a knife at her throat.

You can watch the scene below:

You can also see Bernadette in season 3 when Tyrion goes to Sansa's room to tells her about their wedding. But there is more. In season 4 Bernadette discovers the relationship between Tyrion and Shae and tells everything to Cersei. This had some relevant consequences: Tywin and Shae's secret relationship, Shae's words at Tyrion's trial and the deaths of Shae and Lord Tywin by the hand of Tyrion Lannister, who ultimately grew tired of all the injustices he suffered and committed a double homicide.

You can see the Bernadette scene featured in season 4 at the very end of the following video:

Bernadette was also present in a few scenes from season 6. In one of these scenes, she delivers Cersei's the news of Myrcella's return to King's Landing (not a good news, as Cersei would have soon found out).

Bernadette got promoted

Obviously, sooner or later Cersei should have promoted her gracious spy. If you think about it, how could you not promote a servant who is so loyal to even copy your haircut? Bernadette may not be Hand of the Queen or a spymaster, but she's Cersei's personal maid now, and we expect to see her again in the next episodes of the show!

"Game of Thrones" season 7 episode 4, "The Spoils of War" air on July 30, on HBO.
