"Game of Thrones" Executive Producer and Writer David Benioff just spilled the beans in "GOT" S07 E04's “Inside The Episode” snippet. It’s been quite a while since the incestuous theory between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow kicked off. And now, we are getting closer to see how this theory will unfold in the show’s plot line.

Be warned. This article contains spoilers for “Game of Thrones Season 7 Episodes 4 and 5.

Inside The Episode

In “GOT” behind the scene discussion posted on YouTube, the show’s EP David Benioff subtly confirms that incest is coming.

He explained the scene where Jon ushered Daenerys down the Dragonstone Cave and found massifs of Dragon Glass.

There are also other more interesting details shown that are very evocative of what happened thousands of years back when the Children of the Forest and the First Men first encountered the Wights. He explained that this is quite relevant to the current storyline where Jon and Dany are in. Both are desperate to find a way and stop their common enemy.

However, there are political tensions coming from both sides: The North’s need for the Dragon Glass and the Targaryen’s very specific purpose to have the Northerners’ leader to bend the knee. These conflicts make it difficult to reconcile their causes.

And to make it even more complicated, Benioff reveals that these two powerful leaders are already developing quite a relationship. “They are starting to be attracted to each other,” he said.

Interestingly, how the budding connection between the Mother of Dragons and the King of the North in "Game of Thrones” S07 E04 is not presented through written dialogue but rather via the little spaces they shared and the subtle actions they acted in that narrow gaps.

Fans may see more of this in “GOT” S07 E05.

Most popular incest prediction

The Blue Rose symbolism is a longstanding "Game of Thrones” theory. Vanity Fair previously speculated that Jon and Dany’s romance will commence according to the premise of this theory. Note that this prediction was mainly reference based on George R.R.

Martin’s book series titled “A Song of Ice and Fire.”

Whereas, the ice element represents Jon who was raised in the cold Winterfell lands and Dany who is a direct descendant of dragon riding House Targaryen. What links these two major characters is their bloodline. In the Tower of Joy episode, Jon’s parentage is uncovered revealing his the son of Rhaegar Targaryen, Dany’s elder brother, and Lyanna Stark.

Note that incest is natural for the Targaryens to ensure their bloodline remains pure. Thus, Jon and Dany sharing the same blood makes it possible for them to share a romantic relationship to ensure the Targaryen heritage continues.
