Ahead of the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, some artists were already predicted to win on Sunday night. Artists such as Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars came out as predicted winners for the event’s major awards.

Spotify and YouTube made predictions based on their respective data. According to Billboard, music streaming platform, Spotify predicted the names based on the statistics on the nominated artists on their application, including the listening habits of its users worldwide. YouTube, on the other hand, predicted their winners through the total views garnered by the artists' music videos.

Ed Sheeran has been predicted to be the winner of the “Artist of the Year” award. Meanwhile, the “Video of the Year” award will go to “Versace On The Floor” singer, Bruno Mars.

YouTube predicted that Kendrick Lamar, who has led the nomination table with eight nods, will not win any award. With only around two days before the prestigious awards show, fans are excited to find out the best musical artists this year.

Katy Perry named as host

International pop singer Katy Perry makes history by hosting the MTV VMAs for the first time. According to Entertainment Online, she will also perform a medley of her hit songs during the three-hour show. The stage has been designed with an outer space theme, specially made for her performance.

MTV VMAs 2017 producer Garrett English has also shut down rumors saying that the Katy Perry will be performing alongside her biggest rival, Taylor Swift. He said in an earlier report that the rumored duet performance would not happen. However, the "Swish Swish" singer is expected to have various costume changes and stage movement, showcasing her dynamic and epic personality.

Remote performance in Vegas

Aside from the main show performances, there will be two remote performances that will transpire in Las Vegas. Pop rock band DNCE featuring Joe Jonas will collaborate with Rod Stewart for their rendition of “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy,” Entertainment Online revealed.

Demi Lovato is also gracing the Las Vegas stage with her new single “Sorry Not Sorry,” which has been nominated for “Song of the Summer” category.

The rest of the performances on the main stage in California will be Kendrick Lamar, Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Gucci Mane, Post Malone, Alessia Cara, and more.

The MTV VMAs 2017 is an annual show that features the best musical artists in the industry. It will be aired live on August 27 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
