Earlier this week, Donald Trump made headlines when he threatened North Korea with a potential nuclear attack. As expected, comedian Bill Maher decided to give his thoughts during his most recent show on HBO.

Maher on Trump

It's become routine for Donald Trump to turn heads with his controversial statements. From the day he labeled illegal immigrants as "rapists" and "murderers" during his campaign announcement for president, to his questionable policy proposals and non-stop insults, the former host of "The Apprentice" has made a name for himself in unique fashion.

Despite winning the Republican primary and eventually the general election with a shocking upset victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, Trump has come under constant fire from his critics and the majority of the mainstream media. While the billionaire real estate mogul makes a habit out of blasting the alleged "fake news" who often push back at his agenda with facts, some high-profiled names take time to rip into Trump as often as possible. One of the president's most vocal critics has been Bill Maher, who decided to speak out against Trump's recent threat against North Korea during the August 11 edition of "Real Time with Bill Maher" on HBO.

Kicking off Friday night's "Real Time" was Bill Maher, who wasted no time attacking Donald Trump during his opening monologue.

"I think I know why you are happy, if Los Angles gets nuked we won't have to host the Olympics!" Maher said. "People are nervous...Today Bill Cosby sedated himself!" he continued. "Between the nasty tweets, the threatening statements and the escalating rhetoric, tensions are spinning out of control...and that's just between Trump and Mitch McConnell," Maher pointed out, in reference to the president's recent feud with the Senate Majority Leader.

"Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un are trying to see who has the bigger micro-penis," Bill Maher said of the two world leaders. Not stopping there, Maher then mocked Trump for threatening "fire and fury" against North Korea to the applause of the audience.

"Only Donald Trump can start World War 3 on vacation," the comedian joked, before stating, "it's 'Caddyshack' meets 'Apocalypse Now.'"

Moving forward

While Bill Maher and others are showing no signs of slowing down their criticism of the president, Donald Trump has many other issues to worry about. In addition to his trouble with North Korea and other rival foreign nations, Trump has been unable to follow through with some of his major campaign promises like repealing Obamacare and making progress on immigration reform. With just a 35 percent approval rating in the most recent round of polling, only time will tell how the rest of Trump's administration plays out.
