Fans are extremely saddened and disappointed after actors Anna Faris and Chris Pratt have announced their separation via their official social media pages.

Pratt took to Facebook and announced that he and his wife have filed their separation. He added that both have "tried for a long time." Like their fans, they were also very much disappointed. The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star's publicist has already confirmed the separation according to CNN.

"We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another," the actor wrote.

Faris, on the other hand, sent a similar message on her Instagram account. Both of these announcements were joined statements of the couple.

Faris and Pratt have been married for eight years.

The family

Of course, the announcement did not leave behind their son. According to both actors' announcements, they agreed that their four-year-old son, Jack, has loving parents and that is the reason why they want to move on with the details in private.

Based on a previous interview with Esquire magazine, the couple met on 2007 for "Take Me Home Tonight" in which both stars were featured. However, during that time, Faris was married.

It wasn't until she had split with her then-husband that Pratt was determined to pursue and marry the "House Bunny" actress.

They finally got married on 2009. After years of marriage, Faris gave birth to their son in August 2012.

Love is canceled

Sure enough, fans of the couple were greatly affected by the split, with many believing "love is canceled." Fans took to Twitter their own reactions with GIFs and memes relating to what they were feeling. A user even said she "doesn't know what love is anymore." One user also shared the same sentiments and thought that Faris and Pratt were the "exception to the rule."

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt usually shared messages about their family and each other on Twitter, making it seem the place was overwhelmed by the sudden announcement.

Their separation quickly became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter, with more adding to the barrage of shock and sadness online.

This had almost the same reaction last year when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt also announced their divorce. A lot of fans were equally devastated, stating that love is dead.

Many of their fans and followers still cannot believe that the two are separating. However, other than what is stated on the announcement, no other details were shared.
