Despite not yet hitting the silver screens, the upcoming new reboot film 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' has now received rave reviews from movie critics. Fans of the web-slinging superhero will be glad to know that it has now been confirmed that the new Spider-Man will be returning in not just one, but a number of future sequels.

Five movie plan

In a recent interview with Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige, it was confirmed that Tom Holland, who is the latest actor to play the iconic Peter Parker/Spider-Man role, is actually part of a five-movie storyline.

Feige then clarified that the first movie he was meant to appear in, 'Captain America: Civil War', was already released and that the upcoming movie 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' will only be the second film.

'Civil War' was, of course, the first movie to introduce Holland as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Presumably, the third movie that will feature Spider-Man will be the upcoming team-up film 'Avengers: Infinity Wars', where he will be fighting alongside the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy against the Mad Titan. Holland himself also recently revealed that he had actually signed on for a trilogy of standalone movies as Spider-Man, which coincides with Feige's recent statements.

Still in development

The Marvel big boss then disclaimed that the two other movies are still pretty much on the drawing board and that they still don't even have titles for them yet. Feige then threw out a couple of suggested titles such as 'Homecoming 2'. While the plot for the upcoming films is still top secret, Feige did outline that the upcoming movie will still be taking place in Parker's high school and exploring his double life as a student and as a superhero.

Vital to the MCU

Towards the end of the interview, Feige explained that, while Parker may still be a teenager, he is without a doubt a vital part of the MCU. He then teased that the end of the 22-movie saga, which will end on 2019, will have Parker as the audience's guide to show the aftermath and where things will proceed from there.

'Spider-Man: Homecoming', which is the sixteenth film in the MCU, is scheduled to hit theaters today in Australia, and tomorrow, July 7, in the US and the UK. The film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Laura Harrier, Jacob Batalon, Tyne Daly, and Marisa Tomei. Holland will, then, appear once again as Spider-Man in 'Avengers: Infinity Wars' on May 4, 2018.
