“Supergirl” season 3 will return on each home’s small screen and The CW series is going to have a few changes in the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Erica Durance, who is known for portraying Lois Lane in the series “Smallville” will take over the role of Alura. It can be recalled that Alura, Kara Zor-El’s mother, was originally portrayed by Laura Benanti.

Fans will see Erica Durance stepping into the role in “Supergirl” season 3. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg of “Supergirl” explained that he and Greg Berlanti have previously worked with Laura Benanti back in “Eli Stone.” While they consider Benanti as a close colleague, she will not be able to continue due to her other priorities in New York.

‘Supergirl’ welcomes Erica Durance

According to Kreisberg’s statement, "We are so blessed that Erica has come aboard to offer her own interpretation of Kara's mother.” Like Durance, another former Lois Lane star who succeeded to join “Supergirl” season 2 is Teri Hatcher. With this, Kreisberg is confident that Durance will also have the victory of joining the show.

The 46-year-old TV writer is positive that Durance will succeed in her own take for the classic DC character. Avid followers of the show are set to witness that in season 3. Moreover, Durance was featured in “Smallville” season 4 and was later on promoted as series regular from season 5 to 10. The 39-year-old actress recently ended her drama entitled, “Saving Hope.”

What to expect in season 3

DC was known for their crossovers, particularly The CW shows “Supergirl,” “Arrow,” “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” On the other hand, Stephen Amell who is known for being the protagonist of “Arrow” recently revealed his interest of more encounter with Kara Zor-el.

The 36-year-old actor attended the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in Nashville to join the panel.

While Amell cannot deny his close bond towards Barry Allen, he feels like Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow has to work more with Supergirl. The said characters first met in last year’s crossover entitled “Invasion.” At first, Oliver has doubts that Kara can be helpful to their team.

However, the girl of steel immediately proved that she can be a great addition to the team after saving Oliver’s life. Therefore, a crossover can possibly happen between the two shows if the story permits. Stay tuned on Blasting News for more “SupergirlSeason 3 updates.
