Fans of "Sons of Anarchy" were relieved to know that the spinoff "Mayans MC" was announced last year. The production began shooting this year, but is now met with some challenges, as the pilot is undergoing recasting and reshooting after some changes in its lineup. The latest news stemming out of the award-winning series' spinoff is that some key roles are undergoing some recasting processes. Deadline reported that recasts and reshoots aren't unusual with new productions such as this spinoff. In fact, another FX series, "Snowfall," also got the reshoot treatment when executive producer and showrunner Dave Andron rewrote the original script by John Singleton and Eric Amadio, Screen Rant reported.

Kurt Stutter steps down from directorial role

"Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Stutter, who was originally set to direct the pilot, has now passed on his helming duties to Norberto Barba, whose credits include "Fringe," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Preacher," "Grimm," and "The Strain." With this, Stutter can now focus on writing the show.

Highly acclaimed series launched Charlie Hunnam's career

"Sons of Anarchy" aired for seven seasons in FX, from 2008 to 2014. The highly acclaimed series was earned several nominations from various award-giving bodies, including the TCA Awards. Katey Sagal was honored with the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for the show's third season. Charlie Hunnam, who played Jax Teller on the show, also gained household name status because of the series.

He told ELLE earlier this year, "There's definitely a huge number of L.A. police who seem to like 'Sons of Anarchy.' When the show was on, I'd ride my bike to work a little faster than California law would allow. And I got pulled over my fair share. It didn't always work, but maybe two or three times I didn't get a ticket.

It was very handy."

Spinoff has been a long time coming

"Sons of Anarchy" ended in December 2014 and its spinoff "Mayans MC" was only confirmed last year. It's been a long time coming for the spinoff, which fans of the series have been looking forward to. The upcoming series, which has no release date in sight just yet, will be set two years following the death of Jax Teller and will follow the story of EZ Reyes.

Names that have been confirmed to be part of the upcoming "Mayans MC" production include actors Edward James Olmos, John Ortiz, JD Prado, Antonio Jaramillo, Richard Cabral, Sarah Bogler, and Andrea Londo. But with the recast news coming out of production, it's uncertain whether these actors have still retained their roles in the upcoming series.
