The cast and crew of Riverdale attended San Diego Comic-Con and they revealed new details for the new season. The second season is set to air later this year and the show revealed that things are going to get complicated.

Archie looks for justice

The first season of “Riverdale” left off with a dark and sad cliffhanger after Archie Andrew and his father Fred got mixed up in a robbery at Pop Tate’s Chock'lit Shoppe. Fred was shot at and the new preview for the second season revealed that he will be fighting for his life.

Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa pointed out that Fred’s ultimate fate will be shown and whatever happens, the incident has already changed Archie.

In the new trailer, Archie is angry, paranoid, and scared that whoever shot his father was going to come back for them. For better or worse, actor KJ Apa promised that fans will see a new side of his character.

What happens to Veronica and Archie?

With Archie going through a lot right now, girlfriend Veronica Lodge has to make sure she’s there for him, especially when the first episode of “Riverdale” Season 2 will have the entire town waiting to find out what’s going to happen to Archie’s father. Actress Camila Mendes revealed that her character will be going through a whole new challenge as Archie’s girlfriend.

She explained that stepping up and being a strong partner will be a new experience for Veronica.

Aguirre-Sacasa also teased that the new season will contain the sexiest scene yet in the series and it will involve Veronica and Archie.

Will Jughead and Betty be alright?

In the first season of “Riverdale,” Jughead Jones transferred to the Southside Serpents and now goes to its local high school. Fortunately for Bughead fans, distance between the two towns will not be getting in the way of Betty Cooper and Jughead’s romance.

Actress Lili Reinhart even hinted that there might be a pink leather jacket in the future. Reinhart added that “Riverdale” season 2 will be exploring Betty’s dark side sans the black wig and she will eventually ditch her high ponytail. However, the love triangle involving Betty, Jughead, and Archie will continue on. Reinhart revealed that Betty will still be leaning on the pair during difficult times and fans will see more of Archie and Betty supporting each other.

The CW renewed “Riverdale” for a second season and scheduled its premiere for Oct. 11 this year. The titles of the first five episodes of the upcoming season have already been released.
