HBO and ITV are coming out with “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy” which features Princess Diana’s sons, Prince Harry and Prince William’s reminiscences.
United Kingdom’s ITV and HBO are marking Princess Diana’s 20th death anniversary with a documentary which will be aired on Monday evening. The documentary film, which was undertaken by HBO earlier this year was produced by executive producer Nick Kent. The film centers on candid interviews with Prince Harry and Prince William, who discussed their mother and how their mother influenced their lives.
Kent shared with Hollywood Reporter that this documentary film “will show Princess Diana in a way she has never been seen before, through the eyes of the two people who knew her best.” The film also shows interviews with Princess Diana’s family and friends, who have reportedly never before spoken publicly. It will also highlight new archival footage. It also features details about Diana’s humanitarian and philanthropic work.
Princess Diana documentary film
According to Kent, the documentary film stands out from other projects for the princess. He told Hollywood Reporter about how the filmmakers, including the royal family, had to build trust when making the documentary because of the global appeal and legacy of Princess Diana.
The executive producer shared that the film included the first ever solo interview with the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. He also added that the production team were invited to Kensington Palace to meet the communications team.
Kent also said that a lot of documentaries about Princess Diana over the years did not get the point of view of her two sons who he said, really knew the princess more than anybody else.
They reportedly suggested the idea and after a couple of months, Prince William and Prince Harry agreed to do the documentary film.
“The Diana revealed in this film is the real Diana, who was funny and fun loving,” Kent said about what viewers can expect from the documentary film.
Prince William and Prince Harry recall last phone call with Princess Diana
The executive producer of the documentary film shared how Prince William and Prince Harry’s input provides sincere and insightful analysis of their mother.
One of the highlights of the film is about how the princes talked of their regret over their last phone call with their mother. Prince William and Prince Harry were at the Balmoral Castle in Scotland when their mother called from Paris, just hours before her car crash accident.
Prince Harry said he cannot remember everything they talked about but he can remember how short the phone call was, adding that if he only knew it would be the last time to speak with Princess Diana, he was would have talked about so many things.
He also added that he has to deal with that regret for the rest of his life.
Prince William also shared how the last phone call was stuck in his mind. He also hopes this documentary will show a different side to the Princess - that of a mother.
