The remake of "Aladdin" has come into the news as Disney announced the new cast of the characters of Aladdin, Jasmin, and Genie. The new cast of Disney's Aladdin characters will include Naomi Scott, Mena Massoud, and Will Smith. Disney chose the D23 Expo to announce the new cast comprising these three actors on Saturday.

Who will play Aladdin, Genie and Jasmine roles in new cast?

Disney has been working hard for many weeks on the new face of Aladdin for the remake of its 1992 classic animation. However, Disney did not have problems with the characters of Genie and Jasmine.

Disney officially announced the role Princess Jasmine, that will be played by Naomi Scott. Disney has declared that the role of the genie will be played by Will Smith. The announcement of the Director has already been made public and it points to Guy Ritchie. John August who was announced as the writer of the remake of Aladdin is the author of "Big Fish."

The Lin Pictures company, owned by Dan Lin is also in the list of producers which has two movies of Warner Bros's "Sherlock Holmes" series to their credit.

1992's "Aladdin" was based on an Arab comic tale in which Aladdin (a young man) got a lamp and was given three chances to fulfill his wishes by the Genie who came out of the lamp when Aladdin accidentally rubbed it.

In the year 1992, "Aladdin" won an Academy Award and it was the highest-grossing movie of the year. The song of the 1992 "Aladdin," "A whole new world" was also recognized to be the best of the year.

Will Smith has signed his next project with Netflix for their upcoming action thriller "Bright."

Aladdin: Roles that are still to be announced

Filming of Disney's Aladdin is set to begin in August and the location selected is London.

However, the role of Villain 'Jaffer' is still to be announced as Disney is looking for a prominent name for the character. Missing characters that are still to be announced include Sultan and the right hand of Jaffer called Lago.

The remake of "Aladdin" is an attempt by Disney to transform their old but gold story lines. Shortly, Disney will be remaking some more movies which include 'Mulan' and 'The Lion King.'
