Beyonce or Queen Bey as her fans like to address her, has given birth to twins. The news was announced by the pop star’s father Mathew Knowles on Sunday June 18, who took to Twitter to let the world know that his daughter was now the mother of twins. The tweet was accompanied with a digital birthday card where Mathew wished his new grandchildren happy birthday.
Earlier in February, Beyonce confirmed the news of her pregnancy by posting pictures of her maternity shoot on Instagram. The picture of her second pregnancy went on to become the highest liked photo in the history of Instagram.
The image showed Beyonce sitting, wearing a long transparent veil and lingerie while cradling her quite visible baby bump. The background was framed with pictures of multicolored flowers.
Beyonce now the mother of twins
The tweet from Beyonce’s father was the first word from a family member confirming the birth, which apparently took place last Monday, on June 12. The exact date of birth although not confirmed by family has been corroborated by several other media reports.
The singer – whose full name is Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter – has a five-year-old daughter named blue ivy with rap star husband Jay Z. Blue Ivy was born in 2012 and was one of the most-anticipated celebrity child births. Social media has been abuzz since February, when Beyonce made her second pregnancy public.

Back in 2012, the birth of Beyonce and Jay Z’s first child Blue Ivy created a media sensation, which resulted in the closure of New York's Lenox Hill Hospital’s maternity wing to cater to the celebrity couple. According to TMZ, Beyonce has given birth to a boy and a girl and both the mother and the newborn children are still at a Los Angeles hospital due to a “minor issue.” The entertainment website additionally stated on June 18 that all three will be “okay.”
Beyonce’s latest hit album “Lemonade” and her successful world tour made her the second highest-paid entertainer of the year as of June 1 2017.
Forbes stated that her earnings could be estimated around $105 million. Sean "Diddy" Combs was the only one to top her with annual earnings of $130 million in the same period. The news of the pop star giving birth to twins comes just days after George and Amal Clooney welcomed their twin babies – Ella, a girl and Alexander, a boy.
