“The Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev and Ellen Page’s latest starrer “Flatliners” is a depiction of man’s fascination with the afterlife. She plays Marlo, one of the five medical students that try to go beyond life and experience what it is like when a person dies.

Along with her friends, they help subject each other to near-death experiences. In the process, paranormal activities are prompted that jeopardized their lives. The film is a collaboration between Peter Flardi (story) and Ben Ripley (screenplay).
“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” director Niels Arden Oplev directed the sequel.
It is a follow-up of the 1990 psychological horror film with the same title. Keifer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, and Julia Roberts composed the cast of the original film. Sutherland will reprise his role as Dr. Nelson Wright. Describing his character, he said that he plays a professor at a medical university. It is a role that is similar to his character in the first movie according to the Guardian.
The trailer of the film gives a glimpse of the experiment that the group of medical students performed to know the afterlife. They helped each other experience a minute of death, but hallucinations and past occurrences were rekindled.
The experience is comparable to the ecstasy of being high on drugs that the students get addicted of being “flatlined.” The feeling of being immortal for a brief moment and the exhilarating feeling that comes with it caused each of the students to want to try. However, not long after they realize that it has side effects as reported by Firstpost.
They later regret their decision after hallucinations, and paranormal occurrences disrupted their once normal lives.

This film is one of Nina Dobrev’s upcoming films that include “Crashpad” and “Departures.” It will hit the Australian theaters on September 28 and the 29th it will be released in the US and the UK.
The actress got lots of films offers after her exit from the long-time television series “The Vampire Diaries.” Her movie “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” was released early this year.
The “Flatliners” cast of characters aside from Nina Dobrev include James Norton of “Happy Valley,” Diego Luna of “Rogue One,” Ellen Page of “Window Horses.” Kiersey Clemons of “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” and “Justice League” is also in the film playing the role of one of the medical students whose life with her mother is problematic.
