While the new actor to play the part of James Bond still remains undecided, Tom Hardy comes one step closer to replacing Daniel Craig as the MI6 agent in the upcoming film “Bond 25.”

The “Mad Max” star recently won over fans when he single-handedly took down a moped thief in London in true James Bond fashion. The actor is now being considered as the favorite to take over the coveted role after bookies slashed the odds for which British actor is most likely to replace Craig and take on the role of agent 007.

Hardy cannot say anything about the casting

The 39-year-old actor’s chances of playing Bond have increased ten-fold as rumors emerge that the “Inception” and “The Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan will direct “Bond 25.” In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, the “Taboo” actor addressed rumors about him playing the next Bond and talked about how Nolan would be perfect for the project.

Hardy also mentioned that in the fraternity of acting as well as in the fellowship of his peer group, if you talk about the role during an interview, you will be automatically out of the race. Because of that, he can’t say anything about the role nor the movie as if he mentions anything about it, he will be out of the producers’ choices.

However, he thinks that Chris Nolan will be a fantastic director for the Bond movie. He thinks that when someone mentions the name Christopher Nolan, you think of a very powerful figure in the movie world who could bring something new and create something profound.

Craig might return as the 007 agent

Craig made his Bond debut with the 2006 film, “Casino Royale” and went on to become the second-longest serving actor to play the suave secret agent.

After “Spectre,” Forbes reported that the actor said that he’d rather “slash his own wrists” than do another Bond film, which started speculation about his replacement. He also mentioned during his interviews that playing the popular agent is tiring and stressful. However, New York Post's Page Six recently claimed in a report that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has managed to convince the actor to do one more Bond movie so it’s possible that Craig could star in “Bond 25” before he retires as the titular British agent.

Apart from Hardy and Craig, there are a number of actors in contention to play Bond and the shortlisted candidates include the likes of Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, and Tom Hiddleston.
