The Black Entertainment Television Awards 2017 was hosted by the 49-year-old American comedian and it ran for a total of four hours. While Leslie Jones kept the audience entertained, some of the performers gave their inspiring acceptance speech during the event. The outlet revealed that Kendrick Lamar won the best male hip hop artist and even gave a tribute to Mobb Deep's Prodigy, who reportedly died a few days ago.

"I was inspired to study my skills and work on my connection with my neighborhood," Lamar said during his acceptance speech. "How can I inspire them the same way he inspired the streets?"

Chance The Rapper who performed "I'm The One" with DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne and Quevo on stage also received the humanitarian award from BET. The "Cocoa Butter Kisses" rapper reportedly donated $1 million to the public schools in Chicago.

It was Michelle Obama, the former first lady who gave the award to the "No Problem" singer through a video message.

Throughout the event, Leslie Jones managed to keep the audience entertained because of her several jokes. The crowd continued to laugh as she gave her monologue. "I am scared though 'cause I'm out here and I don't know all the rappers' names," Jones joked.

"I don't know if I'm going to mess up somebody's name. 'Cause, you know, when I was coming up you could understand the rappers' names."

Insiders even revealed that thousands of viewers did not like Trey Songz' new song 'Banana'. The audience did not feel his new song and did not like his live performance as he wore a fur jacket and surrounded himself with women while singing, "I will be throwing this banana all around."
