rachel lindsay's journey on "The Bachelorette" has just started, but to everyone's surprise, the African-American TV personality announced her engagement even before her season opened. Apparently, viewers can expect a happy ending for the 32-year-old attorney and the mystery guy from "The Bachelorette" season 13.

'A season of firsts'

Lindsay has said that her installment of "The Bachelorette" will be "a season of firsts" and surprises. And as promised, the Texas-based attorney shocked the viewers when she announced she got engaged to one of the contestants just before her journey began.

Although she and the mystery guy are not allowed to go public about their relationship while the show is ongoing, Lindsay said it was "liberating" to reveal that she is marrying one of the contestants. This is the first time that a lead role from "The Bachelor/Bachelorette" franchise opened her relationship status to the public.

In the previous seasons, lead roles are not even allowed to say whether they are in a relationship, single, all the more engaged. Lindsay, however, admitted that it is quite difficult to hide a relationship that she is excited about.

Keeping it a secret

Despite keeping their romance under wraps, Lindsay and the mystery guy still manage to enjoy each other's company. Other than that, "The Bachelorette" lead refused to spill more details about her engagement with the unnamed person.

Lindsay's journey kicked off on May 22. Before she earned the lead role, the African-American lawyer placed second during Nick Viall's reign as "The Bachelor." The opening episode of "The Bachelorette" season 13 received mixed response from the viewers, particularly from the LGBT community, when Bryce Powers made a "transphobic" remark on the show.

The Orlando-based firefighter was asked by Lindsay about his "biggest date fear" to which he responded with, "The chick is actually a dude." As expected, Powers drew flak from the netizens who took offense of his comment.

ABC, on the other hand, quickly deleted the comment from their website and stated that the comment "does not reflect" the views of the network, Warner Horizon, and "The Bachelorette" lead.

The 30-year-old firefighter is among the 31 hopefuls who will try to win the heart of Lindsay on "The Bachelorette." Follow the journey of these individuals every Monday at 8:00 p.m. on ABC and find out the identity of that mystery guy who will be marrying Lindsay soon!
