BBC has officially renewed "Taboo" back in March, and many fans are wondering when season 2 will be aired. Season 1 cost about £10 million to produce, so expect the upcoming season to be as expensive. The series stars Tom Hardy as James Delaney, a man whose past is mostly unknown, and returns to Regency London after being gone for a decade. This period drama tells James' story and his war against the East India Company.
The show is critically acclaimed. However, some critics called out the graphic sexual violence scenes, as well as Hardy's constant mumbling, which makes most of his words hard to understand.
But the plot is gripping, and the series has a huge following. No one was surprised when "Taboo" season 2 was announced. As a matter of fact, it is said that a third season is already planned, just as the series started airing.
8 episodes take a lot of work, writer said
Writer Steven Knight said that for "Taboo" season 2, he could picture out a lot of explosive things waiting to happen. He also added that there is a great destination for the series, but he refused to share details. What he shared, though, is the fact that although the series only has eight episodes, it takes a lot of work.
Knight said that he is currently writing the plot for "Taboo" season 2, and he is trying to do it as quickly as he can.
He added that they are planning to shoot the upcoming season early next year. When asked about how he feels about how viewers responded to the series, he said that although "Taboo" is very dark, the response has been amazing.
The boat full of gunpowder and dreams
The final episode of the previous season show James Delaney prepare to escape on a ship, but it did not come easy because also onboard was Prince Regent.
They fought, but James was able to overpower the vengeful Prince Regent, and his crew sailed off to America on a boat full of new dreams, and of course, gunpowder.
"Taboo" season 2 is said to revolve around Colonnade. When Tom Hardy's character said ''We are Americans,' it means that James is very elusive about giving out further hints, but we know that in his mind, he thinks that everyone will know what he is really up to when the time is right.
"Taboo" season 2 does not have a specific release date yet, but many say that it will probably be around January 2019 on BBC One (UK) and FX (US) - considering that lead actor Tom Hardy is also busy with other projects. He is set to play Venom in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and can also be seen in Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic “Dunkirk.”
