The second “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie is doing mind-blowing business at the global box office, and filmmaker James Gunn announced yesterday that he is developing the third film. According to Meme Burn, “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3” will serve as an epic conclusion to the story James started in the 2014 movie.

The film will introduce a whole new world of monsters where there is much darkness. Several cosmic characters are going to be a part of this new project. Gunn told Toronto Sun that he is interested in developing a movie that has a lot of visual effects and action sequences.

He has managed to finalize the script and shooting will begin by the end of 2017. Also, the director says that Adam Warlock, a long-standing Marvel cosmic superhero, will be a part of “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.”

The cast members

While speaking to Toronto Sun, James Gunn revealed that his new movie would have an assemble cast led by Dave Bautista (Drax), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), and Zoe Saldana (Gamora). Michael Rooker, Chris Sullivan, Kurt Russell, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Michael Rooker, Elizabeth Debicki, Sylvester Stallone, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, and Sean Gunn will play supporting roles.

Additionally, reprising their roles from the second film are Laura Haddock as Meredith, Seth Green as Howard, and Gregg Henry as Laura’s father.

The release date of the third film

There is no official announcement about the exact release date of “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.” It is, however, expected that the movie would land in summer 2020.

James says that it’s too early to give it a date since he has yet to finalize the locations and begin production.

Box office projections

The filmmaker seems to be clear about what the third film is about, who’s going to be involved in the action sequences, and how to bring the story forward. Thus, it is easy to assume that “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3” will break the records of previous blockbusters.

As of May 23, 2017, “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2” has made up to $301 million in the US and Canada and $430 million in other territories. On an average, the film grossed over $731 million and is still in cinemas.

The new James Gunn film is expected to gross over $900 million during its theoretical runs. Tickets to “Galaxy Vol. 2” went on sale on April 24, 2017, surpassing the advanced sales of “Beauty and the Beast” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
