Season 42 of "Saturday Night Live" is coming to an end this weekend. May 20 will be the day that the final show for this season will air. It will be another live coast-to-coast broadcast, so viewers in all time zones will be watching a live broadcast of the hit show. Dwayne Johnson will host and Katy Perry will be the musical guest for the night.

Dwayne Johnson is back for his fifth time as host

Dwayne Johnson is joining the five-timers club. May 20 will be his fifth time hosting "Saturday Night Live." The 45-year-old wrestler-turned actor hosted "SNL" for the first time back on March 18th of 2000.

He returned in 2002, 2009, 2015, and now, 2017.

Other members of the five-timers club include Melissa McCarthy (who hosted last weekend) Chevy Chase, Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Ben Affleck, Justin Timberlake and more. The person who has hosted more times than any other is actor Alec Baldwin with 17 hosting gigs under his belt.

Johnson has been in the news quite a bit lately, but it has nothing to do with his upcoming films. In a recent interview with GQ magazine, politics came up. During the interview, Johnson said it could be a real possibility that he runs for president in the next election. The actor is registered as an independent, and has never outwardly pledged allegiance to either the Democratic or Republican party.

As a matter of fact, Johnson spoke at the Republican convention in 2000 and also attended the Democratic convention that same year.

As one of the most popular and highest paid actors in Hollywood today, there's no doubt that Dwayne Johnson will draw in a ton of viewers for the season finale of "Saturday Night Live."

Katy Perry will take the stage as the musical guest

Katy Perry will be the musical guest this weekend on "Saturday Night Live." May 20 will be Perry's fourth time on "SNL." She performed twice before in September of 2010 and October of 2013, and even hosted on December 10th, 2011.

This fall, Perry will hit the road for her "Witness" tour. The tour kicks off at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH on September 7 and will take her throughout North America until early February of 2018. Perry will make stops in Brooklyn, Nashville, Cleveland, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Portland and more. The "Witness" tour will come to a close at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC on February 5, 2018.

While "SNL" will take a break for the summer, fans of the show won't be completely without their fix. There will be four episodes of "Weekend Update" that will air in primetime this summer. "Weekend Update" will be hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che, with likely appearances by co-anchors from the update desk.
