Hollywood couple Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor have announced they are separating after 17 years of marriage. In a joint statement, the two made it clear that they would like privacy, as they manage their situation. Of course, publications have instantly jumped to pointing the blame at Stiller in the aftermath.

Marriage in Hawaii and two children

The two have been together for 18 years in total, marrying a year after they met in Hawaii. Stiller once shared that he proposed while he was filming “Meet the Parents,” a comedy starring Robert DeNiro where Stiller’s character had to ask DeNiro’s character for permission to marry DeNiro’s daughter.

Stiller joked about the real-life situation being similar to the movie in the sense that he was nervous about Taylor’s father’s decision.

Stiller and Taylor have two children together, Ella and Quinlin. Both made cameo appearances in the 2010 animated movie “Megamind.” The couple would like to focus on raising their children now that their marriage has broken down.

A difficult few years for the family

Stiller hasn’t had the easiest few years. He revealed that in 2014 he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The actor went through aggressive treatment to get rid of the cancer and is now living a cancer-free life. It is possible that these medical issues put a strain on the relationship. Now that Stiller has the all-clear, the couple may have decided it is time to split.

Since the release of the statement, the couple (who have starred in numerous movies together, including “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story”) have not released any more statements. Fans are understandably unhappy about the news, but most are giving the two privacy as they focus on family.

Unfortunately, publications are looking at social media photos and past news reports to see if someone is to blame for the breakdown of marriage.

However, it is highly likely that this has been a decision made over a few months.

Shocking revelation for ‘Zoolander’ fans

Taylor and Stiller recently starred in "Zoolander 2" together. After filming, Taylor had shared how wonderful it was to work with her husband. This is something the two have done for a very long time—meeting each other for the first time in an unaired pilot.

There were no signs that the two were heading for divorce, shocking “Zoolander” and “Dodgeball” fans completely. In fact, Stiller had even shared the secrets of a good marriage was to laugh.
