"Nashville" fans can look forward to their favorite series returning for the second half of season five on June 1st. The official announcement was released compliments of Hayden Panettiere (Juliette Barnes) and Charles Esten (Deacon Claybourne.) The two CMT stars shared the news with fans and crew while on set earlier today. "Nashville" fans are well aware season five has so far been very hard on Rayna James (Connie Britton) fans who will continue mourning the loss as we move forward through season five.

'Nashville' producer reveals there is a lot of story left to tell

There will be a bit of a time jump from the season five first half finale to the season five second half debut of about ten weeks. Deacon and the girls are still adjusting to life without Rayna, it has been a tough time for all.

Deacon and the girls continue making the big adjustment to life without Rayna

Deacon is taking over Rayna's beloved Highway 65 company, something that he is not thrilled with, but refuses to lose control over. Deacon is also adjusting to life as a single parent, raising Maddie and Daphne as they grow from girls into young women. It is not only hard times for Deacon and the girls, but also for "Nashville" fans who are still adjusting to Rayna's sad and shocking death.

Fans of Connie Britton can relax a bit, while we will not be seeing her as Rayna James again, we can check out her latest project in the upcoming Netflix film " The Land Of Steady Habits." The new film is based on a 2014 novel of the same name by Ted Thompson which will follow the life of a middle-aged man in his 50s who makes a life-changing decision to leave his suburban family behind in search of freedom, where he meets Britton's new character in a strip bar.

Now as for Juliette Barnes, she is still struggling to find herself but is ready to get back out on the road and get her career back in action, only she is still facing physical struggles as she continues to recuperate and rehab following the plane crash. Thankfully Avery is still by her side offering support along the way.

Scarlett and Gunnar's story is getting more and more complicated. In the finale, we found out that Scarlett is pregnant, but she is not sure who the baby's father is at this point. Prepare for a lot of who's the baby daddy? drama in the second half of season five.

Some finale news "Nashville" fans are going to be thrilled to hear, CMT has renewed the series for a sixth season! That means we will have at least one more season to see how the lives of our favorite "Nashville" characters play out.

As executive producer Marshall Herskovitz revealed, there are still a lot of stories to come so we hope this means that "Nashville" will be around for some time well after season six!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 1st at 9 p.m. when "Nashville" returns for the second half of season 5 on CMT.
