Priyanka Chopra, who traveled to India last Friday, will reportedly play a space scientist in her next film.

The actress is all set to star in the biopic of late astronaut Kalpana Chawla, directed and co-produced by Priya Mishra. Priyanka Chopra and Priya Mishra recently met the family of the late astronaut to know more about her life.

A little about Kalpana Chawla

Born in 1962, Kalpana Chawla, was an Indian-American astronaut, who flew on Space Shuttle Columbia in 1997 as a mission specialist. In 2002, she was one of the crew members who lost their lives in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

In 1982, she moved to the US and studied Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas. After four years, Chawla studied at the University of Colorado and earned a Ph.D. in space sciences.

In 1988, she began working at NASA as a Certificated Flight Instructor. Priyanka says that an imaginary space center will be built that is likely to cost $30 million to the producer.

The actress looks excited about the project and has already started its pre-promotions through official Twitter.

Her Hollywood debut ‘Baywatch.'

Meanwhile, Chopra will next been seen in Hollywood film “Baywatch,” co-starring Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson. The actress has started the promotions for the movie in India and the US.

Last month, she invited her co-stars to Asia for a press conference. However, it is unconfirmed whether Dwayne and Zac will visit Priyanka’s homeland or not.

Baywatch” is directed and co-produced by Seth Gordon, based on the TV series of the same name. The film features Pamela Anderson, Alexandra Daddario, Jon Bass, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, and David Hasselhoff in the supporting characters.

It is scheduled to be released on May 25, 2017, by Paramount Pictures. Priyanka Chopra plays the villainous oil tycoon, Victoria Leeds, who is involved in drug trafficking operations. Dwayne and Zac are two mismatched lifeguards who put aside personal differences and team up to stop Chopra from her evil mission.

According to Filmi Beat, Priyanka Chopra has been attached to the biopic since 2015 when the shooting was delayed for several weeks due to budget issues.

Kalpana Chawla is the first Indian female astronaut who served at NASA.
