"The Originals" fans haven't seen much of Rebekah Mikaelson for a while. After leaving at the end of the first season, she returned here and there in seasons 2 and 3. After being cursed, she arranged to have herself put into the sort of dreamworld with her siblings, linked to Klaus' life force. There was hope that she would return for the whole of Season 4 but now that doesn't look likely and her character may need to be written out. Will she be a Mikaelson left to die by Hayley and the others?

Claire Holt joins ABC's 'Doomsday'

It has been recently shared that Holt will join the cast of ABC's new apocalyptic drama called "Doomsday." The series will also feature other known names like Rachel Lefevre from "Under the Dome" and Taye Diggs from "Private Practice." The difference between these people is that their shows are currently off air.

"The Originals" season 4 will return in two weeks -- the week after "The Vampire Diaries" series finale. Many fans have now questioned whether the actress is going to miss out on filming some of the scenes with the Mikaelsons, meaning that her character will need to be written out.

Rebekah Mikaelson appeared in just three episodes

There are slim chances that Rebekah will be killed off just yet. When Holt took on other projects during the season 2 and season 3 runs, she made the decision to pull back the amount of episodes she would appear in. In season 3 alone she was only in three out of 22 episodes, one of those being the season finale.

Rebekah's character was cursed into a ripper and she chose to be daggered rather than fight the urges and fail.

For season 4, she has been confirmed in just two of 13 episodes. It is possible that Rebekah's curse will be the hardest to find a cure for, so is the one left in the dreamworld and linked to Klaus on her own for some time until she can be revived.

"The Originals" season 4 returns on March 17, set five years into the future. Holt has shared some photos on social media with her co-stars, making it clear that she is coming back -- other projects will not get in her way.
