Nancy Kerrigan is one of the Season 24 contestants on “Dancing With The Stars” this spring and fans of Olympic ice skating cannot wait to see her hit the dance floor. She is partnering with “DWTS” dance pro Artem Chigvintsev and people are anxious to see how this pairing goes. Could they be contenders for the mirror-ball trophy?

Kerrigan's Olympic days were overshadowed

This new “Dancing With the Stars” contestant is known mostly from her Olympic ice skating days, as she won a bronze medal during the games in Albertville, France in 1992 and a silver in Lillehammer, Norway in 1994.

Unfortunately, many remember Nancy Kerrigan not only for her skating but also for the attack she endured in January 1994 during the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. As Biography notes, the attack was linked to Kerrigan's skating rival Tonya Harding and Nancy's injuries prevented her from continuing in the competition.

Nancy retired from skating competitively after Lillehammer, but she went on to compete in the Fox series “Skating With Celebrities” in 2006. Kerrigan married her agent Jerry Solomon in 1995 and they have three children, Matthew, 19, Brian, 11, and Nicole, 8. This new Dancing With the Stars” contender is now 47-years-old, notes Parade, and she recently filmed a skating special for ABC that aired in February.

Will Chigvintsev get his first 'DWTS' win?

Kerrigan will be partnering with “DWTS” pro Artem Chigvintsev during what will be his 5th season on “Dancing With the Stars.” Artem's previous partners include “Brady Bunch” star Maureen McCormick, “The O.C.” actress Mischa Barton, singing icon Patti LaBelle, and “Back to the Future” star Lea Thompson.

Chigvintsev's best finish was in Season 19 with Thompson when they placed 6th, but many “Dancing With the Stars” fans would think that Artem and Nancy have the potential to do quite well if they can find their groove.

How well will Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev do in Season 24 of “Dancing With the Stars”? This pair will kick things into gear on Monday, March 20, and “DWTS” fans can vote for the duo at 1-800-868-3408.
