Bachelor nation wanted more, even after the 2-hour finale of "The Bachelor." So immediately following the finale, live from Los Angeles, fans tuned in to watch "After the Final Rose."

Newly engaged Nick

Season 21 of "The Bachelor" ended with a proposal. The season's bachelor, Nick Viall, proposed to special needs teacher Vanessa Grimaldi. Grimaldi said yes and the couple plans to live happily ever after. First though, they had to get through "After the Final Rose." The show kicked off with Viall coming out to sit down for a chat with host Chris Harrison.

The host and Viall talked briefly and then they brought out season 21 runner up, Raven Gates.

It was announced that Gates would appear in the next season of "Bachelor in Paradise." Viall is no stranger to that show either, as he appeared in it last summer after he was rejected on "The Bachelorette." After the announcement, Gates left the stage, as did Viall. Next up was the winner of this season's "The Bachelor," Vanessa Grimaldi.

Grimaldi started off with talking to Harrison about how hard it actually was being on "The Bachelor" and the struggles that the couple have gone through with their long distance relationship since the show wrapped. The newly engaged couple was then reunited on stage and shared with Harrison their plans for the future.

Historic surprise

Over and over again, previews were saying that this episode of "After the Final Rose" was going to have a historic surprise. The surprise had to do with the next bachelorette, Rachel Lindsay. Lindsay was one of the contestants on the last season of "The Bachelor." She made it all the way to the final four before she wasn't offered a rose.

But all is good in her world as she gets to hand out the roses on the upcoming season of "The Bachelorette."

The historic surprise that viewers were waiting for was that "The Bachelorette" was starting her journey during the live airing of "After the Final Rose." Lindsay had the opportunity to meet some of the men that would be vying for her love and attention on "The Bachelorette."
