Tyra Banks is ready to begin hosting "America's Got Talent." On Monday, March 27, the new host was at Season 12 kickoff at Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California along with others who are affiliated with the show and excited fans. The judges seem to be happy that Tyra is the one who is replacing Nick Cannon who quit the show after eight seasons because of a controversy over his Showtime special that aired during "AGT" off season.

Tyra said Nick sent her flowers and a note congratulating her when he heard that she was replacing him. Judge Howie Mandel said he has spoken to Cannon who is busy with other assignments.

The 43-year-old model arrived at the event wearing a black sheer lace bodysuit and bright lavender lipstick. When asked if she had gotten any pre-show hosting advice, the new host said producer Nigel Caaro told her to be herself.

Banks is no stranger to hosting or being on a reality show. She has hosted "America’s Next Top Model" since 2003. She did take one season off while Rita Ora was the host, but she is returning to host again next season. That means she will be hosting two competition shows in the summer.

She just has to remember which "America's" show she is on at a certain time. The host doesn't want to have her top models juggling, dancing, singing or doing magic tricks. She doesn't want her "AGT" contestants walking the runway or smizing (smiling with the eyes).

The two shows are completely different, and Tyra is experienced enough to balance them while taking care of her one-year-old son, York Banks-Asla

Judges excited about new host

The judges are excited about Banks joining the "America's Got Talent" family. Judge Howie Mandel has confidence that Banks will be good for the show. He cited that she has motherly instincts that only a woman can have.

He believes she will encourage contestants before they go onstage by giving them pep talks to help them do their best. He also believes Tyra will issue out a lot of hugs backstage to those who don't succeed.

Tyra has worked with judge Heidi Klum in the modeling and fashion business. She is getting along with judge Simon Cowell and also with Judge Mel B. "America’s Got Talent" returns on May 30 on NBC.
