The 16th Annual Tribeca Film Festival will be getting underway April 19-30 in the hub of Tribeca and various locations in and around New York City. The festival was established by actor Robert DeNiro. and co-founders Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in 2001, following the attacks on the World Trade Center. Tribeca has evolved from an annual event to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of lower Manhattan.

Roll out the red carpet

Opening night kicks off with a special screening of the documentary film, “Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives” and concert performance at Radio City Music Hall on April 19 featuring Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Earth, Wind and Fire and more.

The film chronicles the music mogul of Arista Records, Clive Davis who has signed many high-profile musicians including the late Whitney Houston. It is based on the 2013 best-selling autobiography, “The Soundtrack of My Life.” The highlights of this year’s film festival will include Tribeca Talks, The Second Annual Tribeca TV, N.O.W. (New Online Work) Showcase with special screenings and Second Annual Creators Market celebrating online creators and the next generation of storytellers.

Special guests will include, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Hanks at one of the Tribeca Talks at The Beacon Theater, Jon Favreau in conversation with Scarlett Johansson, Noah Baumbach with Dustin Hoffman, Kobe Bryant, and Barbra Streisand.

The Tribeca TV guests will feature stars from “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Genius,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “Episodes” notable actors Joseph Fiennes, Alexis Bledel, Samira Wiley, Brian Glazer, Mex Minghella, Emily Watson, Geoffrey Rush, Jessica Biel, Bill Pullman, director Antonio Campos, Paul Reiser and David Gordon Green who directed the 2014 Nicolas Cage film, “Joe” and Tony Danza.

Closing night will feature conversation with Nicolas Cage’s uncle, Francis Ford Coppola and a reunion of the cast to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of “The Godfather” and a special screening of “The Godfather Parts I and II” Gala Premiere at Radio City Music Hall.

(New Online Work) showcase will feature 10 independent online creators’ latest work and original storytelling. The N.O.W. Creators Market is a daylong private industry market that brings together online creators looking to pitch new projects with interest in engaging up-and-coming online talent.

There will also be red carpet events, media events, and screenings of multiple genre films of every area and interest.
