"The Originals" season 4 premiere is just a week and a half away. Fans are eagerly anticipating the show, which will take place five years on from the season 3 finale. There are already hints about what is in store for Marcel, who was last seen overthrowing the Mickaelsons and locking Klaus away for what seemed like an eternity. Now it looks like he will have to face his former friend and leader, as his own throne is at stake.

Marcel will allow all vampires into New Orleans

Up until this point, fans have only heard about the vampires who had their link to Klaus broken in "The Originals" season 3.

The only ones in New Orleans were Marcel and Josh, because they were already there. Well, Marcel has made a few changes in his five years as King of New Orleans. He will allow all vampires into the city, but this will make things extremely dangerous and difficult for him.

In fact, the decision will lead to his potential dethroning. It's not like it is that easy to deal with vampires who no longer have a link to their original vampire. There is no threat to kill Klaus and end their lines, as there would have been before (even if it would have ended Marcel's life, too).

The fate of New Orleans on Marcel's shoulders in 'The Originals' season 4

It's no surprise to many fans that Marcel is feeling some pressure.

He no longer has the support of the Mikaelsons and it doesn't appear that he has help from any of the witches, either. While he originally ruled New Orleans before the show started, he had a strong following and knew how to quickly deal with all potential uprisings. He even had the witches under control.

Now Marcel will have to work from the ground up.

He lost a lot of respect when he gave into the Mikaelsons and let them take over. He no longer has Davina and the connection to the ancestors is gone. Marcel will need to get back some of the support and following that he once had, and it isn't going to be easy.

"The Originals" returns on March 17. This is after the series finale of "The Vampire Diaries" on Friday night. There are rumors that the spin-off will take some elements from the "TVD" finale.
