Actress Natalie Portman opted out of attending the 2017 Oscars last weekend due to her pregnancy, and fans are now finding out Portman had already given birth. Natalie was nominated for her role in "Jackie," but released a statement saying she was too far along in her pregnancy to attend the awards ceremony. However, the 35-year-old had delivered her baby just days before the Oscars took place.

Natalie welcomes her second child

It's a girl! Natalie gave birth to baby Amalia on February 22, four days before the Oscars. Portman's rep reached out to People magazine to give fans an update.

"Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied welcomed a baby girl, Amalia Millepied, on Feb. 22. Mother and baby are happy and healthy."

Natalie, who has been married to Benjamin Millepied since 2012, also has 5-year-old son Aleph with the French choreographer. It's been a busy year for the actress as she starred in the highly-anticipated biography about the former first lady and made headlines with her red carpet maternity looks.

From baby announcement to red carpet maternity looks

Natalie continued to make news throughout her pregnancy as she stunned on and off the red carpet. People magazine reported Portman first displayed her baby bump back in September at the Venice Film Festival.

She also attended several award shows over the past few months where she showcased her chic maternity style.

Perhaps one of Natalie's most talked about pregnancy looks came in the form of a $65 Topshop dress she recently wore to the Oscars Nominee Luncheon. She paired sensible black flats with the casual dress as she stepped out for the Beverly Hills luncheon in what turned out to be her most popular maternity look.

Of course, there were also a few high fashion looks that made headlines as Portman continued to flaunt her baby bump. In January, Natalie filmed for "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in an eye-catching off the shoulder outfit.

InStyle magazine said the black and blue outfit was by designer Proenza Schouler as Portman managed to look both comfortable and chic while reading mean tweets.

Of course, Natalie also went with comfortable and low maintenance looks such as skinny jeans and leggings when not filming or making red carpet appearances. Either way, the mother of two was stunning throughout her pregnancy.
