FOX is working on a new untitled X-Men live action television pilot and have recently made a lot of casting announcements. Amy Acker, from “Angel” and “Person of Interest,” will play Kate Stewart who is separated from her husband Reed. Stephen Moyer from the hit television show “True Blood” will be playing her partner. Little is known about their characters, but with such big names filling the roles expect them to be series regulars.

Magneto's daughter is a wild card

Bunheads” veteran Emma Dumont will play Lorna Dane/Polaris, which is huge news considering the magnitude of Lorna's character in the comics.

In the comics, Lorna is the third child of Magneto, and she can often control magnetism like her father. She is a long time X-men member, but her loyalties have faltered in the past, so it will be interesting to see what direction Dumont takes the character in. Her character could even be a major villain in the show, depending on the depiction of Polaris used from the comics for inspiration.

Don't blink or you will miss her

Jamie Chung who played Mulan on “Once Upon a Time” will play the mutant Blink. This is unique because Blink can often travel across time, space, and other dimensions with her powers, which provides for varied locale and adventures. This team of X-men could literally travel to the wild west in one episode or visit the future in another.

Blink has a complicated history as well, so it will be curious to see how the new show portrays her.

Smaller names joining the show

Percy Hynes White from “Between” will play Andy and Natalie Alyn Lind from “Gotham” will be portraying teenagers with powers on the show. Moreover, Blair Redford has been announced to play another mutant named Sam.

Not a lot is known about the show aside from the basic plot, which is a story that centers around two normal parents who are forced to go on the run from the government, after their children develop powers, and join an underground mutant network.

X-men but not X-men

The show is being billed as an X-men project and “X-men” director Bryan Singer is even directing the show for FOX.

However, with the lack of a confirmed name for the show being released, a lot of fans speculating that the show could be an attempt to introduce the world of the popular morlocks group from the X-men comics. Polaris and Blink have both spent time in the morlocks in the comics, so their appearance could be plausible.

Creating a memorable show

Burn Notice” creator Matt Nix is writing the script for the X-men show and confirmed that the show will indeed connect to the X-men movies. A morlocks show would allow them to connect the new show to the X-men universe in a similar fashion like “Agents of SHIELD” and the larger Marvel cinematic universe. Imagine being able to see a mutant from the X-men movies pop up in the new X-men show as a fugitive or someone else on the run. Deadpool and Wolverine cameos could happen, but are highly unlikely. There is no premiere date for the show yet, but stay tuned for more information in the next few months.
