Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy have officially introduced their baby boy to the world! The duo, who are both ballroom pros featured on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars," welcomed their son Shai Aleksander last month but chose to wait a little while before sharing him with their fans. Last week, the couple appeared on "Good Morning America" with their bundle of joy and Peta shared a bunch of pictures of Shai on her blog.
Peta and Maks become first-time parents
The dancing lovers have shared some very sweet messages about parenthood and the two have expressed their absolutely love and adoration for little Shai in some of the most beautiful social media posts.
Peta has used her new blog to share some of the things that she's learning about being a mother and about caring for a newborn, which is something her fans have really enjoyed reading about. Maks has used his Instagram account to say things about his son and has become quite the protective papa bear!
What's in a name?
Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy decided to give their son a unique name that had great meaning to them both. Peta said that she and her husband-to-be wanted to make sure that their son had an easy first name since his last name is "Chmerkovskiy" and will have to be "spelled out" for people regularly. That said, the couple decided to go with the name Shai, pronounced "Shy." The name means "gift" in Hebrew and was the perfect fit.
As for the baby's middle name, it's Aleksander, a nod to Maks' father, Aleksander. Peta said that Maks doesn't have a middle name but he wanted to give his son one.

Although they wanted to keep their little boy out of the spotlight, Peta and Maks agreed that it wasn't realistic to do so.
They wanted to share their exciting news with the world and they wanted their fans to be able to see their son. For this reason, the couple chose to do an interview on "GMA" and to share some photos on the internet. However, don't expect them to be overdoing it. They both want to enjoy the upcoming precious moments with their new love in private.
