The "Justice League" movie has a large cast of popular DC Comics characters all joining forces to battle to protect earth from outside forces. The characters already announced for the movie include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. One interesting name missing is Green Lantern, a character who has been part of almost every iteration of the Justice League in both comics and television shows. According to Screenrant, there will, in fact, be a Green Lantern in the movie but he might not be part of the team and won't be one fo the major Green Lanterns from the DC Comics universe.

Green Lantern's in DC Comics Universe

The report originally came from a Periscope Q&A with insider Umberto Gonzalez, someone who is very knowledgeable about the comic book movie universe. He said that the Green Lantern set to appear in the DC Comics movie is not Hal Jordan or John Stewart. In the comic books, there were five very popular Green Lantern characters. Alan Scott was the first, appearing in the Golden Age. Hal Jordan was next and is the longest standing hero in the comics. After Jordan, there was John Stewart, who was made very popular with the Justice League animated television series. Finally, there was Guy Gardner, who was a fan favorite in the '90s thanks to his antihero personality, and Kyle Rayner, who was extremely popular after Hal Jordan died in the comics.

Hal Jordan and the Justice League

When it comes to the Justice League, Hal Jordan is the most recognizable Lantern. He was a member of the original team and was widely considered the greatest Lantern of them all. Jordan died in the comics but came back in "Rebirth" and was once again a founding member in the New DC 52. Hal Jordan was also the focus of the "Green Lantern" movie that was supposed to kick off his character in the DC expanded movie universe.

Ryan Reynolds played him in that film. The role of Hal Jordan in the "Green Lantern Corps" movie coming out in 2020. Umberto said that "Justice League" might add one of them after they are cast.

The news is that a Lantern with a strange name will appear in the upcoming DC Comics movie when it comes out.

Zack Snyder, who directed both "Man of Steel" and "Batman V. Superman" will direct the movie and there is a good chance that a member of the Corps will appear to warn Earth that Darkseid is coming.
