Game of Thrones is heading towards its seventh season at a rate of knots, despite the initial delay, which means that more and more information about what to expect will slowly start being released. Whilst a lot of the show related spoilers that surface will just be conjecture, however it really does look like Arya Stark will be reunited with her direwolf Nymeria.

Game of Thrones direwolf Nymeria set to return in seventh season?

The Alberta Media Production Industries Association confirmed that a Game of Thrones production team was filming in Banff Alberta, a spot widely known for its large wolf population (in both size, and numbers).

This would be the perfect place to pick-up Nymeria's storyline.

Michael Jorgensen, the chair of the AMPIA seemingly went on to confirm that the show was there specifically because of the areas wolves, telling Global News “I just spent the weekend with the DOP [director of photography] of Game of Thrones in Banff,” Jorgensen said. “They are shooting It turns out Alberta has the biggest wolves in the world, so they’ve shot a little bit here.”

What can we expect from Nymeria's storyline in Game of Thrones season seven?

Nymeria is one of six direwolves seen in Game of Thrones adopted by the Stark children, the others being Summer, Grey Wind, Shaggydog, Lady and of course Jon Snow's Direwolf Ghost. Only Ghost, and Nymeria remain alive, however whilst Ghost has been seen throughout the show alongside Kit Harrington's Jon Snow, Nymeria's whereabouts has remained a mystery since season one.

For those who don't remember Arya Stark's direwolf got into some trouble with the Lannisters after biting Joffrey causing Arya to release Nymeria into the wild and the Lannisters to execute Sansa Stark's direwolf Summer.

However, with Game of Thrones looking to bring Nymeria back into the show, we can speculate on what the wolf will have been up to.

Personally I believe it'll be a similar storyline to that in the books, with Nymeria being the leader of a large pack fo wolves. However it also seems that Nymeria is set to reunite with her owner Arya Stark.

Maisie Williams spotted in Banff: Arya Stark to get her direwolf back?

Maisie Williams, the actress who plays Arya Stark, has also been busy on Instagram uploading photos of herself in Banff, sparking rumours that after getting revenge on the man responsible for the 'Red Wedding' that she has gone to find her direwolf.

I hope this is exactly what happens in the show because imagine how badass Arya Stark would be with the ability to change faces at a whim, assassinate anyone she pleases, and with a huge wolf army following her command. She'd arguably be the most powerful woman in Westeros!
