The internet on February 20, 2017, was abuzz with a false news that well-known Indian character artist Farida Jalal was dead.

The veteran Actress became the latest victim of a Death hoax. The news story turned out to be a fake call, and the actress was flooded with calls from concerned fans about her well being.

Last night rumors did the rounds on the web that she has passed away. The lady who started her career as a child star and then gave a memorable performance in many films as a character actress clarified that she is alive and hearty and the news was a hoax.

Overwhelmed by concern of fans

Speaking to a Mumbai tabloid, the actor said that first, she thought it was a prank, but later after being flooded by calls from concerned fans she realized that she had become victim to death hoax news. Farida said that she is overwhelmed by the love of her fans and thanked them for their concerns.

The actress was also annoyed by the whole episode and later asked a publicist to put to rest the rumors to rest. She also thanked the media for putting an end to the strange news.

The actress said that she does not have a twitter account and someone using a fake ID was tweeting in her name.

She asked the media not to take the tweets as coming from her.

Celebs following prey to death hoax

It is not the first time that an actor from Bollywood has fallen victim to a false death story. Something similar was also faced by Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, and Yo Yo Honey Singh in the past.

The lady is best remembered for numerous films where she acted as a child artist.

She is also remembered as Kajol aka Simran’s mother in “Dil Wale Dulhania Le Jayenge.” She has just completed a film “Sarghoshiyan” which is set in the backdrop of the current situation in Kashmir.

Jalal also featured in many television shows playing pivotal roles on various channels. Recently in an interview, she stated that she has no roles in recent Hindi movies. But added that she is willing to act if there are roles that suit her personality.
