The "Dancing with the Stars" family grew by two tiny feet on Jan. 4 as pro champions Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy at long last welcomed their first child, son Shai Aleksander Chmerkovskiy, at a New York area hospital. The blessed event came nearly 48 hours after the proud new dad posted an image of a pregnant Murgatroyd applying make-up while lying in a hospital bed. But the new parents aren't the only Chmerkovskiys to make headlines this week.

Amber Rose, Val Chmerkovskiy still an item

Shortly after Baby Chmerkovskiy entered the world at 5:34 AM Eastern time yesterday morning, model Amber Rose spilled a bit of news about the tot's uncle, two-time "DWTS" Mirrorball Trophy winner Val Chmerkovskiy.

Rose, who served as Maksim Chmerkovskiy's celebrity partner during the fall 2016 season of "Dancing with the Stars," posted an Instagram photo of herself kissing the 30-year old Val that included the simple but sweet caption "My Love".

Val Chmerkovskiy posted an equally sweet photo of himself with Rose, 33, to Instagram a few hours later.

Val Chmerkovskiy upset with fan reaction

Although People confirmed their status as a couple via a Dec. 13 exclusive, fans expressed a mixed response to the stars' formal confirmation of the relationship. The less enthusiastic reactions prompted an angry Twitter tirade from Chmerkovskiy that has since been deleted and replaced with calmer words, including a retweet of a Russell Simmons quote that read "Our prime purpose in this life is to help others.

And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them."

Chmerkovskiy and Rose, who became acquainted during "DWTS" season 23, first ignited romance rumors at the latter's 33rd birthday party in October. Recently, both attended Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy's lavish baby shower in New York, and Rose shared several images from the event via social media.

Although Val Chmerkovskiy --who won "DWTS" season 23 with Olympian Laurie Hernandez-- hasn't confirmed his status for "Dancing with the Stars" season 24, the show will begin again on ABC in March. Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy will not be part of the cast.
